Revlon Colorbust Matte Balm in Stand Out ($5.97 on sale)
So we all know that I have an obsession with red lips (I talked about my two “gateway” reds that started me on this little journey here). So when I saw this gorgeous shade from the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm range, I just could not stop myself. It is richer and slightly deeper than the reds I have opted for in the past, so it seemed like a suitable addition to my ever-growing collection. I also love the 4 Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains that I already own.
I was expecting big things from this because the other Revlon offerings are so great – and believe me, it’s impressive!

I was playing around with rear curtain sync flash on my camera, hence the “soft focus/blurred” appeal of this photo. No post-production here. I’m loving the effect that flash gives!

Although this is a matte formula, it goes on the lips very smoothly and with a hint of a balmy texture. As the name would suggest. These crayon stick applicators have grown to be my favourite as they apply effortlessly and with decent precision. As you can tell from the photo above, this colour is true to the what is portrayed on the packaging and it is extremely opaque in a single swipe. I love that I can sheer it out though for more of a stained look to the lips, rather than full out, bold colour. It can be mattified even more by blotting away some of the balmy texture with tissue.

The minty-fresh scent is nice in my opinion, because it livens up my lips, subtly reminding me I’m wearing a bold, exciting colour because it gives a plumping feeling (without plumping in the least). Needless to say I’m really impressed not only by the pigmentation and formulation, but by the lasting power. I may have to pick up a few more, but the display where I bought this was picked over so much there was little selection. What colours would you recommend I get my hands on next?

I love how this colour looks on my fair skin, with minimal makeup as I’ve work it above, but I can also it imagine looking so great on a wide variety of skin tones with a range of eye looks. It’s such a versatile colour in my opinion. It can be worn casually or for a more pulled together look. You done good Revlon!

Have you tried the Revlon Matte or Laquer Balms? What were your thoughts?
