I have been seeing the Joe Fresh Eye Shadow Palette in Neutrals around on blogs and instagram for quite some time. It seemed as though everyone was very impressed by the quality of these shadows so I put it on my list of things I wanted to pick up and try for myself! A couple days ago I was in Shoppers Drug Mart and saw this guy on clearance for just $7 so I opted to pick it up and see whether it is worth the hype!

Every brand seems to have a neutral shadows palette, as they really are an essential makeup product in any collection. This palette does hit all the bases in terms of the shade and finish selection of 4 mattes and 8 shimmer shadows. The colours range from a creamy nude shade all the way to a deep black. On first glance, the colours all look quite different from one another and yet cohesive to be able to create a large variety of looks. There is a good combination of warm and cool tones that would be perfect for creating tons of looks for day or night.

When I began using this palette I found myself a little underwhelmed by the shimmer shades. As you can see in the swatches above, there is a lot of shine but not a ton of colour payoff. I really like the mattes and find they have great pigmentation however! I did use primer to enhance the colours, but perhaps a wet brush would help to get the most out of these shades. The colours are blendable and easy to work with because they aren’t the most pigmented, which would make them great for beginners.

I’m definitely going to continue to play around with this palette and I know I can make it work. For the $14 regular price I do think it’s a great palette as you get 12 neutrals. I do believe this is permanent as I’ve read a few times it’s from the core collection, so I’m not entirely sure why it was marked to 50% off, but if you can snag it for that price, I definitely suggest you do!

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts on it?!
