I’ve been seeking a full coverage liquid foundation suited to my pale winter skin. Maybe I’ve been in denial or just too lazy (how about both) to get something not as dark as other products in my collection, but when the time came that I finally decided to get something new, I opted for the Cover FX Natural Finish Oil Free Foundation in the shade N30. After having used it for a while now, I wanted to share my thoughts with you!
What appealed to me about this product is the claims that it is a medium to full coverage formula and contains lots of skincare ingredients. There are so many amazing things that this product is formulated with and what’s even better is what it’s formulated without. There are no nasty, scary ingredients here – no animal testing and no animal products – I like! I’m drawn to everything that this brand is about, so it was definitely time for me to see how their formulas perform and I can’t wait to try more!
I love the simplistic packaging from the branding to the function. The squeeze tube is perfect for me day to day. It feels durable, easy to use and travel with and like I’m going to be able to get every last drop out of the container. I have now tried to apply this product a variety of different ways, but I have come to learn that the package knows best – a brush or fingers are definitely preferred. This is water based and so a damp sponge just absorbs the product and does not effectively allow you to build up any coverage. I’ve come to find I prefer the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for a buildable coverage!
Just look at the before & after – the coverage that the Cover FX Natural Finish Oil-Free Foundation offers is definitely a full to medium. It also offers a slight luminosity to the skin, which I prefer to mattify with powder after application, but have not here to accurately show the coverage without additional products.
At the moment, my skin is quite normal (it is not oily, nor is it dry) but it is breaking out very badly as I have yet to get that situation under control. I also have pretty severe scarring and hyper pigmentation left from old spots, and although I don’t necessarily think I need something full coverage everyday, it’s nice to have it to hand. This product definitely gives it to me in terms of coverage, and I never seek anything more than the uniform base it offers. Coverage can definitely be amped up with a powder foundation, which I have done a few times, and I love the way this looks under those kinds of products, just as much as a translucent powder. If you have oily skin, I don’t know what this will co-operate with you, as it definitely needs to be set. I look forward to testing it out more come the hot summer months to see how it performs then!
Overall, there are lots of amazing things I can say about this product. The coverage, the shade range and the ethics behind this brand all are amazing things that I always seek. I think all the positives are what makes this product completely worth trying if you have not yet – even with it’s somewhat steep price tag of $46CAD
Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?!
