After seeing endless hype for the Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Foundation, I needed to give it a try for myself! This liquid foundation retails for just $8CAD (just $5.99 for my US friends) and is getting so many amazing reviews comparing it to higher-end formulas. So, how could I not be intrigued?
Weirdly enough, this product doesn’t claim much at all. Both the packaging and the Wet n Wild website talk about how it performs under lighting conditions. Basically, this is said to give you camera-ready skin and reduce the white cast caused by photography. Strange claims. There is nothing about coverage, longevity, skin concerns. This was pretty weird to me when I started seriously looking into the product, but for $8 it was worth trying out on my own. I do love that Wet n Wild offers this in 20 shades, which is a great selection! The range does seem to be lacking in selection for darker skin tones, however.
Since today is Earth Day, I thought I would share with you some of my green beauty essentials. I’ve been purchasing more natural products a lot over the last few years, especially when it comes to skin, body and haircare. This is a topic that is very dear to me, so I’m surprised I have not yet shared these products yet.
I’ve been leaning toward purchasing fewer, but better quality products when it comes to personal care. I know, I could definitely do the same in regards to makeup, but I just can’t… yet. As I said, I’ve been paying so much more attention to ingredients, ethics and sources of the products I’ve been using. There are so many great brands on the market that offer these clean solutions, and I have found them to be extremely accessible. My favourite sources for natural beauty are National Nutrition (which I visit in Orillia, Ontario) and well.ca (which is based in Toronto & Guelph Ontario) so hurrah for supporting local businesses too! Let’s jump in and go over all the great natural and green goodies I’ve been using, loving and hope you get inspired by!
I’ve been on a bit of a Pacifica Beauty bender and recently decided to pick up the Pacifica Solar Complete Color Mineral Palette. My Pacifica collection is definitely growing – I’ve been coveting everything by the brand! From their quality, to their ethics, I am behind everything they have to offer, and this palette is no exception!
This palette does it all
With 6 eyeshadows, 1 blush, 1 bronzer and 3 cream highlighters, this palette has got all the essentials to create a full faced look. The colour palette evokes spring/summer perfectly! The shade selection is very complimentary, even with the addition of gold and blue. It’s easy to create a full-faced, cohesive look because all these elements pair so well together. I’ve been mixing up the way to use these elements and have found they perform well no matter the context. Bonus points! Both the blush (Flushed) and bronzer (Bronzed) make a gorgeous all-over lid shades for a single shadow look! The eyeshadow Glow is an unreal highlight on the top of the cheek bones! And all of the highlighters make gorgeous lip toppers in place of gloss. Talk about multi-use! This palette really does it all!
The essence Shape & Shadows Eye Contouring Palette* contains all of your eye and brow essentials! With 6 products and a double ended brush, there really is everything you need to create a variety of eye looks. I love multi-use products, especially when they are packaged up into a small palette (with a mirror!) that’s perfect for travel. And for just $9.99 you really can’t go wrong with a palette like this!
When I spotted the Real Techniques Ultimate Base Set last week I couldn’t resist picking it up. My intention was to revisit the Miracle Complexion sponge as I have used it in the past (loved it!) and wanted to try it out again. However, this trio lured me in as it contains the sponge and 2 brushes all in a limited-edition set. Unfortunately, as I’m sitting down to write this review, it looks like it’s no longer available! But no need to worry, all of these tools are available individually. So why don’t I let you know my thoughts on the contents?
